REBEL is one of my favorite words in the world. So when I found out our guest Michelle Mazur calls herself the COMMUNICATION REBEL, I was doing backflips.

She’s an expert in social movements and wants to help you build something bigger than yourself.

Ready to start a movement, rebel?

Dive into today’s episode where we focus on:

  • Michelle’s journey from communication professor and researcher to speaker coach
  • How and why she became a rebel with her own message about public speaking
  • The importance of messaging
  • What a 3-word rebellion is and how to use it to spread your message
  • How and why to apply social movement theory to your messaging
  • What can evolve after you write a book
  • Burning things to the ground
  • How Michelle plans to take on TED Talks
  • How social media is starting to remind me of high school

About Our Guest:

Michelle Mazur, Ph.D. founded Communication Rebel on the belief that communication changes the world so that's what we help speakers do! Rebel against the status quo and make a difference. We help speakers with crafting their message, the speech, and creating their positioning and pricing (can't change the world if you can't get gigs and don't get paid). The speakers Michelle works with have gone on to book $10,000 speaking gigs, become international speakers (they even speak in front of world leaders!), and raise 3x the amount of money expected for the launch of a charity.

I’ve been following Susan Hyatt online for a few years. I’ve always been struck by her “tell it like it is” vibe. She doesn’t mince words. She doesn’t dance around the truth. She’s not trying to be liked at the sake of her own peace of mind. She goes there. Everyday.

4 words for you >> BREATH OF FRESH AIR.

So I just had to have her on Get Gutsy. You excited? ME FUCKING TOO!

Susan she shares her wealth of experience as we discuss:

  • Her evolution from first speaking her truth online and eventually to her in-person friends and local community
  • Navigating how being your true self can affect and shift specific relationships (I share a personal story here too)
  • Setting boundaries and dealing with critics, trolls and haters
  • Mixing politics and business
  • Trusting your gut over strategy
  • How our business evolves as we evolve
  • How she found confidence around pricing her coaching services
  • How she stays at her best through rituals, movement and self-care

About Our Guest:

Susan Hyatt is a master certified life coach, weight loss expert, and the author of BARE. She’s the creator of the trademarked BARE Process, the BARE Deck, a podcast called BARE, and an online community called BARE DAILY. With her fiery Facebook rants --  including “Whoop Ass Wednesday,” where she reads a fresh batch of hate mail from Internet trolls and gives her sassiest response -- Susan has gained an international following of women who love her honesty, humor, and fearlessness. She has been featured in Cosmopolitan, Woman’s World, Seventeen, and O: The Oprah Magazine. When not coaching clients, you can find Susan lifting weights at the gym, lacing up her sneakers for a 5am run, or broadcasting live to talk about transformation, courage, standing up to bullies (including the bullies that live inside your own mind), taking excellent care of your body, and creating the life that you crave.

Can a childhood experience or passion really morph into a career path? How can coach training help you in your current business, job, or your life in general?

Hey, all you network marketers, check out Get Gutsy Coach Training School graduate Melissa Killeleagh!

Melissa holds nothing back in our very candid discussion. We also get real about:

  • How her childhood experiences shaped the mission that is dear to her heart today
  • The role alcohol played in both of our young lives. Melissa says she used it to hide her greatness, and what changed after we both gave it up
  • The power of sharing our stories
  • Releasing external mileposts as indicators that we are on the right track and tuning into our inner guidance

Melissa also shares how Get Gutsy Coach Training provided her the opportunity to get clear on her core values, what she truly wants, and brought her into alignment to create her own internal navigation system for this epic journey of life. She explains how coaching helps significantly with her network marketing business, and how she coaches direct sellers to tap into their values, lead with integrity and create their own community.

This episode is part of our epic GUTSY COACH WEEK where we are featuring several coaches on GET GUTSY. Get inspired by what is possible when you say YES to this glorious and abundant path of coaching.

About Our Guest

Melissa Killeleagh is a “mompreneur” with a vision for adding value to every life she encounters. Life truly began for her just before turning 40, with the birth of her son. With undergraduate and graduate degrees from Ithaca College and Binghamton University, she worked in public finance for 10 years before trading in full-time work for her part-time business in social marketing.

While having two incomes was great, Melissa felt that having more time to truly live her life was even better. She gave up on society’s suggested “mileposts” for success in life and began to design a life guided by her own values, relationships, and the notion that “we make a living by what we get, and we make a life by what we give.” Just when she started making plans, God laughed, and along came Jack. Melissa says that he IS her greatest gift.

Her passion and purpose are building strong relationships, creating dynamic communities, inspiring leadership from the heart, and being a catalyst for the critical shift in paradigm our world needs right now, which Jack inspires her to do it daily.

When not chasing her toddler or her dreams, you’ll find Melissa snuggling with her fur baby; reading; writing; dancing in the living room; conspiring with energy healers and thought leaders; listening to, or recording, podcasts; and, enjoying life outdoors.

Christine Gallagher and I go way, way back. She’s one of the first women I met in my earlier coaching days. Our friendship blossomed by attending live events held by our mentors. We’d share stories and ideas and also the truth of what we were going through personally as we grew our coaching businesses.

This path is NOT for the faint of heart and Christine and I get real with you today. That’s why I’m so pumped to share this episode today. It was a long time coming!

Even though I’ve known Christine for years, I learned a lot about her courageous journey on this episode. (Including she dropped out of law school and has an advanced degree in information systems and science!)

Gems from this episode:

  • Do great coaches need to have it all together?
  • The secret to being unshakeable
  • Inspiring people without knowing it
  • How important investing in a coach early on was to her business growth
  • An early loss that has significantly shaped Christine’s work
  • How to deal with an oversaturated market
  • Making pivots and shifting your niche or business model
  • The next wave is on its way
  • Leaders go first

Christine also talks about why she is such a fan, and an affiliate partner, of Get Gutsy Coach Training School.

This episode is part of our epic GUTSY COACH WEEK where we are featuring several coaches on GET GUTSY. Get inspired by what is possible when you say YES to this glorious and abundant path of coaching.

How do you know what you REALLY want? And are you ready for not one, but two awesome Jennys today? Okay, let’s go ...

From engineer to manager, from virtual assistant to coach, Jenny Shih shares a fascinating look at her zig-zaggy journey to becoming a stellar coach. She also reveals how mean girls and depression when she was younger led to perfectionism and burnout.

Eventually, that led to prioritizing what she really wanted, setting boundaries and learning how to say that magical 2-letter word: NO.

Powerful!

I love how clear Jenny is about who she does -- and doesn’t -- serve, and how straightforward she is about HOW she serves.

Jenny kicks off our epic GUTSY COACH WEEK where we are featuring several coaches on GET GUTSY. Get inspired by what is possible when you say YES to this glorious and abundant path of coaching.

As you rise up on your QUEST to help more people with your sacred work, guess what?

You're going to meet some critics on the path. While some of these critics will be external critics, the biggest critics live inside your own head.

Let's talk about how to deal with this. I don't want to see you getting derailed by these silly little things called CRITICS.

5 tips for dealing with critics

  • Be mindful who you share your dreams with
  • Inner Critic + Inner Voice (know the difference)
  • The only way out is through
  • Next level = more critics (It’s okay. Celebrate.)
  • Tell the truth + get it out

Tune in to dive in deeper.
