Meet Carly Hope, an inspiring leader who runs her business and her life on her own terms. Carly puts pleasure above all else while holding space for soulmate clients to awaken into their truth and power.

In this episode of Get Gutsy, Carly shares about unsuccessfully trying to follow industry trends and doing what she thought she SHOULD to grow her business. When she finally stopped pushing away her own magical gifts and allowed herself to be guided by her connection to Source, she thrived. The result is a successful, bespoke business based on the divine feminine skills of connection and intimacy over marketing.

You’ll learn how Carly follows her intuition to make spontaneous decisions that drive her life and business, and how her divorce was a catalyst for her to grieve previous pains in her life that she had avoided.

Key gems from this episode:

  • It’s okay if you don’t have the “perfect” sales page life
  • How to stop overproving yourself
  • Why Spirit is on Carly’s Board of Directors
  • A litmus test Carly uses when deciding if she will or won’t work with a client
  • How to make PLEASURE a priority in your life and business
  • Bespoke model vs volume model in business (which is right for you?)

About Our Guest

Carly is an author, speaker and coach supporting women around the world to awaken into their true voice, message and power. Through her powerful work, Carly takes women further into their pleasure, desires, money and mission than they ever dreamed possible.

How do you bounce back after hard things happen? What do you do when your world is turned upside down?

Oh boy, grab some tissues for this episode of Get Gutsy.

As you know, I’m back from leading my retreat in Tulum, Mexico (OMG - amazing!) … and want to talk to you today about selling.

Some people cringe at the thought of selling, but to me selling is serving.

Sure, free stuff is great (and you know I give my community a lot of free value!), but if you're truly committed to growing your business and helping more people, you MUST, MUST, MUST invest.

When you invest, you're invested.

I've found that my clients who have invested at the highest levels experience the deepest transformation. They grow the most (even if the growth was not what they expected!). My clients in Tulum DEFINITELY experienced this. Big-time.

And if I wouldn't have given them the opportunity to invest in themselves, I would have done them a grave disservice.

I speak from experience. I walk my talk. I consistently invest in my business. It's a non-negotiable.

I embrace selling. And I embrace being sold to. How about you? You’ve gotta love it to grow your body of work in the world.

I’ve heard from many women in my community that they hate sales and are afraid of it … and that makes me sad. It’s up to you to rise above and FALL IN LOVE with sales.

“90% of selling is conviction, and 10% is persuasion.” - Shiv Khera

Enjoy today’s episode about the power of SALES.

A big theme for the many of the women I’ve worked with through the years is this >> lack of boundaries.

Being unwilling to set healthy boundaries causes you to feel overwhelmed, exhausted and drained. Human doormat, anyone?

Straight-up: this sucks! And you can do something about it.

My conversation today with truth-telling writer, coach and Priestess Lisa Fabrega will get you going on the right path.

Lisa’s fascinating life experience includes growing up in a dictatorship to acting in New York City to leading retreats around the world. I love how gutsy and vulnerable Lisa is online and our conversation is no different.

We deep dive into following your hunches and how to honor your soul after a lifetime of being told not to.

And, we explore all things boundaries, including:

  • Signs you need to set better boundaries
  • Why we avoid setting boundaries
  • How upholding your boundaries can lead to your next level
  • And so much more!

I recently spent a weekend with Lisa at my coach’s mastermind retreat where Lisa was the Priestess-in-Residence. She is wise, grounded and ready. Lisa speaks her soul and inspires you to do the same.

About Our Guest

As a truth-telling writer, coach and innovator in the realm of soul-driven leadership, Lisa Fabrega has devoted her life to helping people connect more deeply with their soul voice and overcome the misleading chatter of the ego.  By aligning with their true calling in this way, her clients are able to unleash their inner Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa or Gandhi upon the world. Lisa leads retreats called Soul Adventures around the world and is the creator of the popular Soul Whispering challenge -- a 7 day challenge to get you back in touch with the voice of your soul.  If you know you’re here to do something big in the world, but for reasons you can’t explain, aren’t quite doing it the way you want to, you can visit www.lisafabrega.com for inspiration and to find out more about how to work with her.

I was introduced to Pratima Aravabhoomi’s work when I received a gift in the mail (in the actual mail, not email - there’s a difference!) from her company Craft Street Design.

It was a piece of wall art with a quote by Francis of Assissi.

The quote >>

“Start by doing what’s necessary. Then do what’s possible. Suddenly you’re doing the impossible.”

I’m pumped to share my chat with Pratima with you.

Not only do we dive into how Pratima launched her business, we explore her childhood in India, her move to the American South and arranged marriage, her taboo divorce, not fitting in at Apple, and so much more!

Other hot topics we dive into:

  • Pinterist ads
  • Facebook ads
  • Influencer marketing
  • Email marketing
  • Coming up with new product ideas

In today’s distracted, high-tech world, I love to stay grounded by touching “real things” and Pratima’s work really speaks to me. Spend a little time getting present with us. I know you will be inspired.

About Our Guest

Can a book really change your life?

This episode will have you believing YES.

You can imagine my delight when I learned that my book “Get Gutsy” played a big role in Erica Gellerman’s gutsy move to release her “successful” corporate executive life (Procter & Gamble and Amazon to be specific!) to  embrace entrepreneurship.

Erica had a panic attack one day during work and simply knew something had to give. Her life was at stake.

She literally read my book on a plane as she was contemplating what the heck she was doing with her life.

Her question she pondered >> “What do I want?”

With an MBA from Duke and lots of student loans to boot, she had her back against the wall to figure out what move she’d make next.

Her story will floor you.

It’s about worth, women, meaningful careers, making money, and what she learned from playing on the boys’ water polo team in high school (as the only girl).

And you’ll flip when you hear her story about landing her first client in London, the wife of a Royal! It’s hilarious and oh, so bold (a potent combo).

About Our Guest

Erica Gellerman is a consultant and mentor who helps women find their worth in the workplace. Having spent 10 years honing her skills with great companies (PwC, P&G, Amazon), she’s now helping other women transition into careers they love, gain the confidence to speak up and ask for more, and see the value in their work.

She shares information and advice on her website, The Worth Project, through her weekly Forbes Column, The Salary Chronicles, and as the Finance Editor for The Everygirl. She has her MBA from Duke University, is a CPA, and is currently an expat living in London with her husband and her little dog, Hattie.

I’ve known Nathalie Lussier for several years. I followed her online for a bit, then eventually got to know her in a group where we were both members.

What I’ve felt about her from the beginning >> she’s SMART. Super smart.

And she’s also very gutsy. She bets on herself and has been doing this from the beginning of her career when she declined a job offer from Wall Street straight out of college to start her own business instead.

It’s been quite an evolution and ride for her in business. And we go DEEP on this episode because ya’ll know that’s how we roll on Get Gutsy.

Some sparkly gems you’re going to love:

  • How to know if your path is right for you (and how to pivot quickly if you go off course)
  • How she determined what roles new team members could handle to make space for her first baby
  • The mindset she had to embrace to be ok with supporting full-time employees
  • The magic word that makes for smooth sailing with her husband who is also her business partner
  • The power of pop-ups on your website to increase conversions by a HUGE percentage
  • Why membership sites matter
  • Why you need to use ideas before they expire
  • Who you are writing for when you craft your messages (this may surprise you!)

Dive in.

About Our Guest

Nathalie Lussier is an award-winning entrepreneur, international keynote speaker, and author who has been making websites since she was 12 years old. She graduated with a degree in Software Engineering and a job offer from Wall Street, but she turned down this job to start her own business right out of college. Her bootstrapped startup AmbitionAlly has been featured in Entrepreneur and is inspiring a culture of intuitive small business marketing software across the globe.

Nathalie has been featured in Forbes, Inc., Fast Company, Success Magazine, Entrepreneur, Venture Beat, Mashable, Business Insider, Yahoo! Finance, and Under 30 CEO.

Why can it be so hard to make positive changes in your life?

What’s the secret to creating LASTING change?

Are our beliefs to blame when we feel stuck?

Shelley Davidescu and I swim around in all things CHANGE during our compelling conversation on today’s show. She reveals a powerful 4-step process to create change in your life, and explains why change is so scary and why it may require a mourning period.

Shelley, who has both an online coaching business and a therapy practice, shares how she moves between the modalities, and what all of her clients have in common. She also explains how our belief systems and identities can create major blocks and how to break free.

Some of my favorite nuggets from this episode >>

  • How to deliberately craft your life
  • We are always in relationship
  • We MUST let go of things to create change
  • What feels SAFE doesn’t get you to your desired outcome
  • You must commit to your progress + doing the work

Mother Goddess, hear me rise.

Mother Goddess, hear me rise.

Over and over again, I could hear this powerful message flowing through my body.

I was fully naked.

On a massage table.

In an open-air room at my retreat center in Gokarna Beach, India.

Two massage therapists (angels!) were giving me a synchronized hot oil massage (heaven!).

The oil was a custom blend based on my ayurvedic dosha (I’m vata - pitta).

I had been loved up for an entire week.

Cared for.

Nourished.

Fed.

I napped everyday.

Went to bed early.

Rose early for sunrise yoga.

Sat in sangha with a circle of sisters on the path.

In a land that had been calling me forward for a decade.

India.

And there, on that massage table, I heard a message that was so clear, so solid, so deep, I knew it was meant for me.

And I knew it was meant to be shared by me, with you, right now.

  • Navigating the fear of going from selling products to selling herself and her services

  • What faith means to her
  • An epic, life lesson she experienced while (literally) climbing a mountain with me

Wondering if you have what it takes to invest in other entrepreneurs to help make their dreams come true? Or, to create a thriving business in another country?

Well Kelsey Matheson’s instincts have taken her on a powerful journey exploring these realms! I just loved talking to this woman who moves through life with eyes wide open and tremendous courage.

Kelsey reveals how she tapped into her gut feelings to create a yoga retreat center in Costa Rica, -- how dreamy! -- and also financially back other entrepreneurs with a social purpose.

Now, after healing from a personal health crisis, Kelsey has launched the next chapter in her work >> a new online course about conscious living and optimal health.

And girl, make sure you listen until the end. Kelsey’s super vulnerable gutsy move is a very personal experience she navigated with grace, love, and no shame. She inspired me to open up about my own experience of discovering at 25 years old that I have an older brother that I never knew I had.

About Our Guest

Kelsey Matheson-McCord was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and, today, she is an international entrepreneur by way of co-owning a number of socially and environmentally responsible companies. Kelsey began dancing and acting at the age of six and went on to train at theatre school in New York City before landing in Toronto to focus on an acting career. During that time she also dabbled in producing and marrying art with business quickly became second nature to her. In 2009 she left the film industry in search of a new challenge that would deliver that combination of creativity and commerce. Kelsey teamed up with two American partners to develop Anamaya Resort – a stunning yoga retreat center in Montezuma, Costa Rica.

After Anamaya opened, Kelsey knew she had found her life’s passion. Her second company, BE Outfitter, produces backpacks and outdoor gear that helps put children through school around the world. While all this good stuff was happening, Kelsey birthed a daughter and subsequently suffered through depression. Instead of letting this condition ruin her life, she sought the help of numerous health and wellness experts.

Much discovery led to recovery and the realization that Kelsey could help others. The call to coach was heard and kelseymatheson.com now serves as a hub for those seeking to benefit from either her business prowess, through private training sessions, or achieve optimal health through her brand new e-course.

Both Kelsey and her various projects have received coveted media attention via Elle, Conde Nast Traveler, Huffington Post, Forbes and In Style, to name a few. Kelsey currently lives in Brooklyn, NYC with her husband and daughter.

Enjoy!

I’m back from my 2-week journey through India.

I turned 40 last week. (Thanks to everyone who helped me celebrate!)

Everything feels … different.

It’s hard to explain.

I saw things in India I’d never seen before.

Felt things I’d never felt before.

Ate food I’d never tasted before.

Bought a silk caftan I’m so excited to wear (OMG so pretty).

Wore bindis on my face.

Learned.

Connected.

Sweated my ass off.

Laughed.

Moved.

Felt alive.

I planned to write this post and record a podcast episode with this theme for a few months now. I even wrote a good part of it when I was in India and thought I’d finish the piece last week … but I simply didn’t have the space inside myself for it.

Self-care had gone to another level during my time in India … and I didn’t want to revert back to unhealthy habits of pushing myself too hard in a quest to prove myself to the world.

My theme during this cycle is WORTH, TRUTH + LETTING GO.

I’m honoring this even when it feels hard.

What are you ready to honor even though it may feel hard?

What new moves are you ready to make?

Questions to ponder today …

You may wonder why I am so obsessed with India. My answer >> she speaks to my soul.

The book I read by Stanley Wolpert called “India” captures my feelings pretty well …

“Ah, India, who can fathom your depths or reconcile your complexities?”

She’s mysterious, beautiful, heartbreaking and oppressive.

Grand, dilapidated, simple and confusing.

She’s everything and nothing all at once.

And she set the stage for the ushering in of the next decade of my life and the next level of my teachings.

Here’s what flowed through me on the evening of the FULL MOON (May 10, 2017) about India, Sobriety + Turning 40. Soak it up ...

Trying to figure out what you’re good at?

Then check out my conversation with Mridu Parikh on today’s episode. She’s a breath of fresh air.

Mridu shares some of her gutsy moves as she's evolved her business and life many times over like ...

>> Starting and then selling an events business.

>> Becoming a photo and video organizer for clients.

>> Moving into the coaching and training industry.

The foundation that has helped Mridu stay grounded and centered during so much change >> her spiritual practice, mindset work, and a solid daily routine (we dive deep into details!).

Mridu is Indian and I've scheduled this episode to air soon after my return from India to extend the magic of my experience.

Namaste.

Today’s Get Gutsy guest, Michele PW, is your girl!

I’ve known of Michele’s work for years as she’s one of the originals in the internet marketing industry. It was so fun to have her on the show and talk about how this space is evolving so quickly (you’ve gotta stay grounded or else you won’t make it!).

At just 3 years old, Michele already had a passion for the written word. That’s how old she was when she taught herself to read! She’s been plugged into her gifts since the beginning.

And even though her first mentor tried to talk her out of becoming a freelance copywriter, Michele persisted.

Michele shares how she got a divine download to create her love-based copywriting system during a deep spiritual awakening when she saw the mess in her head. No more fear-based business and life for her.

Liberating.

Michele and I are both self-published authors and I loved talking to her about what it takes to get your gorgeous book out into the world (hint: fierce determination).

Ready for a massive LOVE injection to take your work to new heights?

Let’s go ...

Enjoy!

Know that your work as a coach, creative or healer is valuable, but struggling to make sales?

You need to know how to PACKAGE UP what you offer. And do it in a way that’s clear, simple and shows that you have SOLVED A PROBLEM in your market.

This mission-critical skill is what my Get Gutsy guest Rebecca Tracey is awesome at … and we dive deep on packaging your services to make it easy for prospects to buy from you on today’s episode.

Rebecca also shares how she manages her business while traveling the world roadtripping, hiking and rock climbing.

What I love about Rebecca is her willingness to GO FOR IT and make a freaking decision (quickly). Every successful person I’ve met has that skill.

When she decided to STOP WAITING, that’s when things really took off for her.

Why are you waiting? Time to get moving.

Oh, and Rebecca shares how she started her business while living in a van! Seriously.

Sick of letting your work take over your life? Tired of handling every single detail in your spiritual online business and never feeling like you make much traction?

Girl, you need a virtual assistant (VA).

A virtual assistant was the first major team member I brought on in my business. I can’t imagine where I’d be had I NOT seen the value of a VA.

If you’re not quite sure what a VA could do for you … or where to find a great one for your business, I’ve got just the woman for you. Her name is Trivinia Barber.

I simply love her energy and her story.

Trivinia shares how motherhood (she’s the mom of 4) and the motto “family first” was a catalyst for creating her virtual assistant business. And, how she stepped into the CEO role after realizing she missed out on a year of her life working round the clock to create that business.

Listen up as she explains how to figure out what to outsource to a VA and how that can help your business grow. (You CANNOT grow your business all by yourself.)

You’ll also hear some straight-up truth from Trivinia about some “in the trenches” lessons learned about the reality of owning a business. It’s not all glitz and glam and pretty pictures on social media. But when you’re committed to your mission, it’s so worth it.

About Our Guest

Trivinia is the founder of Priority VA - a boutique virtual assistant agency that matches elite level online entrepreneurs like Amy Porterfield and Todd Herman with highly-skilled assistants who “get” the online space and come prepared to deliver massive ROI right out of the gate.

Enjoy!
