Are you stuck in an unfulfilling career that’s not making you happy? Do you wish you could take a leap of faith on your biggest passion?

Get pumped about today’s episode of Get Gutsy because I’m speaking with my longtime friend and the creator of Hoola Monsters, Abby Albaum.

I hired Abby as an intern back in our New York City public relations agency days. I just knew she was a superstar and I was right! We worked together for a few years and as fate would have it, we BOTH ended up resigning from that company at the exact same time. We had a joint going away party to celebrate the next chapter in our careers!

Abby shares her inspiring story and how movement meditation in the form of hoop dancing helped her overcome the darkest days of her life AND helped her build her entrepreneurial dream.

We also talk about pushing through uncertainty as an entrepreneur, unconscious eating, healing and transformation, trusting the signs, and so much more!

Tune in and find out how she transformed her life and quit her career in marketing to build a successful business empire with hoop dancing at its core.

About Our Guest

Abby is a movement arts specialist with a strong passion for inspiring people to live happier, healthier lives.  She is a Certified Group Fitness Instructor through the American Council on Exercise and has been teaching hoop dance for 7 years.  She co-created the Hoola-Fit program along with Casandra Tannenbaum and trains hoop dance instructors nationwide.  Abby also travels the country as a featured instructor at national hooping retreats such as Hoop Camp, Return to Roots Gathering and Wanderlust Yoga Festival, to name a few.

Abby is also very passionate about working with children and recently introduced her first kids’ fitness DVD, “Molly and the Hoola Monsters.”

Episode highlights:

  • Abby talks about independence and her drive to succeed from a very young age
  • Why she left an 8-year career in public relations to start Hoola Monsters
  • How the art of hula hooping completely transformed her life
  • How hoop dancing helped Abby overcome depression
  • The importance of exercise and being mindful of what you put in your body
  • Find out how Abby quit her marketing job and the steps she took to get her hoop dancing business off the ground
  • How to push through uncertainty and turn your challenges into success!
  • The best way to discover your niche
  • Why you should quit resisting and trust the signs right in front of you
  • How she expanded her brand and is now juggling 4 successful businesses

“Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” Napoleon Hill

I know there is something that you really want right now.

More clients.

To launch your podcast.

To launch an online course.

To fill your mastermind.

A partnership with a fabulous company.

A baby.

Romance.

To travel the world.

What I also know is this: there is always a way.

It’s very easy to give up at the first roadblock.

Many give up even before they get started.

I’ve seen it all in my role as coach, teacher, guide, truth-teller.

Persistence is the key.

This episode of Get Gutsy will give you the fuel you need to keep on moving past any roadblock or disappointment.

Have you suffered from a traumatic life experience? Is it holding you back from being yourself, accomplishing your goals or fully enjoying your life?

Well prepare to lighten the load!

On today’s episode of Get Gutsy, I’m speaking with psychotherapist Juliet Keeler LeBien, who is here to help drain the trauma from your life for good.

We chat about the game-changing form of therapy called EMDR and how it can free your soul (I am living proof!).

Plus, we highlight the “ah-ha” moment that led to Juliet’s entrepreneurial journey, responding vs. reacting, dealing with mean girls, and so much more.

Prepare to ride the waves towards the life you deserve!

About Our Guest

Juliet Keeler LeBien is a Phi Beta Kappa, Ivy League trained psychotherapist who runs a prestigious private practice in two of the most dynamic urban hubs in the USA: Boston, MA and Manhattan. Juliet specializes in treating anxiety and depression in high achieving professionals, artists, and parents.

A devoted yogi, she practices (never perfect) her asana. As John Kabat-Zinn said, "You can't stop the waves, you learn how to surf". She feels that her treatment provides sanctuary and "surfing lessons" to help people live their best lives while on this planet. And of course, all this is served up with serious Jersey Girl attitude.

Episode highlights:

  • Self-care, supportive listening, and pushing through massive political change
  • Ego Syntonic vs. Ego Dystonic
  • What is EMDR and how can it liberate you from traumatic experiences?
  • How to find an EMDR certified therapist
  • Discover the therapy that’s right for you
  • Responding vs. reacting
  • The lightbulb moment that pushed Juliet to run her own private practice
  • The importance of investing in learning about business
  • Dealing with mean girls and learning how not to go along with the crowd

Enjoy!

xoxo
