“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.” - Lao Tzu

It’s so easy to get bogged down by negativity. Watch the news, read tabloid magazines or hang out with Negative Nellys or Neds and it’s no wonder you’re taking the train to Negative-town. But your mission is too important to succumb to this low level energy.

Meditation will change EVERYTHING for you. Trust me.

In this episode of Get Gutsy, I give you a crash course on meditation. Short, sweet and simple, you’ll be meditating consistently before you know it.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • What happens when you still your mind
  • My pathway to meditation
  • Why you don’t need to be afraid of meditation
  • How you don’t need to be sitting on a meditation cushion to meditate
  • A meditation for increasing positivity
  • A 1-minute meditation (so you have no excuse that you don’t have time to meditate!)

Enjoy!

Do you ever get frustrated that things don’t happen as quickly as you thought they would? Have you questioned whether or not you can make the transition to your dream career? How would you make it all work with the many hats you wear?

Listen in as Lorena Manriquez tells of her sometimes difficult, yet extremely rewarding, transition in her 40s from successful civil engineer to a well-known and passionate professional filmmaker. She is a shining example of forging ahead bravely to reap unexpected rewards as she set and accomplished her goals and told her story to those who needed to hear it.

Lorena is also my sister in law, married to my brother Gregg. I didn’t know I had a brother until I was 25 (and Gregg was 36). This is one of my favorite episodes because it truly reminds me of the miracles that are all around us.

About Our Guest

Lorena Manríquez is an award-winning independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Her love of film began at an early age watching Spanish and French films in Chile, where she was born and raised. Lorena has been the recipient of several industry fellowships and has done amazing work with her first film, Ulises’ Odyssey. She started her career in engineering and has now fully transitioned into filmmaking where she is a producer, writer and director. Her new film is called Siqueiros: Walls of Passion and has received much funding and anticipation.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

  • The passion which led her to transition from her sizable paycheck to being her own boss
  • How leading a double life for 5 years led to the ultimate jump into filmmaking
  • Why the difficulty in her new career path didn’t deter her dream
  • How her divided political family benefited from her brave pursuits
  • The hustling and holding out in faith that leads to miraculous rewards
  • How the long wait leads to unexpected and adventurous outcomes
  • Why having a goal and staying on track are crucial to success
  • How the desire to tell the story of a defiant deceased Mexican artist led to a heavily funded second film
  • How to leverage your past success to fuel and fund your future endeavors
  • How to see the greater picture and cause as a source for driving the final product
  • Even while wearing many hats in a solopreneur career, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel
  • How one victory can lead to so many other opportunities

Ten years and a lot of work later, Juliette & Chocolat now numbers six locations. The menu has grown, so has the team, but the mission is still the same: Juliette & Chocolat is a temple to chocolate, a place to indulge your sweet tooth.
